Teamwork makes the dream work. There’s no “I” in team. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Whatever the cliché may be, we’ve been programmed to believe that living and working as part of a collective, in the spirit of promoting a common cause or fulfilling the greater good beyond our individual interests, is a virtuous thing. And in many cases, this is indeed true.
But every now and then, it’s good to focus inward. To do for yourself. To break the chain. To pave your own path. To fly solo. You get the idea.
Hence why our team has decided to celebrate notable debut solo albums by artists who decided to embrace the DIY aesthetic and do their own thing at some point in their careers, after saying farewell to their respective groups or simply taking a temporary hiatus from the fold.
