Nearly one year since we celebrated the 20th anniversary of Tori Amos’ Scarlet’s WalkI (2002), her acclaimed seventh studio album has resurfaced in half-speed 2xLP vinyl form for the first time ever. As a complement to the standard black vinyl edition, Amazon is offering an exclusive scarlet-colored version in the U.S.

Regarded by Amos’ loyal legion of devotees as among her finest albums and described by the artist as a “sonic novel about a road trip,” Scarlet’s Walk is a post-9/11 concept album that examines the fictional, titular figure’s adventures throughout America in the wake of the infamous attacks. An absorbing listening experience across its 18 tracks and 74-minute run time, the album yielded three official singles in “A Sorta Fairytale,” “Taxi Ride” and “Don’t Make Me Come To Vegas.”

“(Scarlet’s Walk) is about real events—really about a woman's search for what she believes in, and for the soul of what America is,’ Amos explained to Music Monitor in October 2002. “Who is this being, really—not this thing that's being pimped out by our leaders, but America. People were seeming to look at ‘America,’ not as an object but as a being, almost, a friend, that kind of thing. This is nothing new to many cultures, but to America it was. It's always, ‘We are Americans,’ but what about her, she who is our land? She's been here a lot longer than we have.”
